Company History

Shetland Maritime Ltd was set up in May 2002 to provide training and marine consultancy services for all sectors of the marine industry.

Initially, marine consultancy was provided through Noble Denton Consultants to the oil and gas industry, mainly in the North Sea but also in Nigeria.

Training and education has been provided through the NAFC Marine Centre, based in Scalloway in the Shetland Islands, to local fishermen, ferrymen, tugmen and pilots.

Since 2009, we have provided experienced, qualified crew to vessel owners, primarily in the offshore oil and gas industry and towage industry.

In early 2011, we successfully delivered two new Voith Schneider tugs from Valencia, Spain to the Sullom Voe Oil Terminal for owners Shetland Islands Council.

It is our wealth of marine experience and knowledge, acquired from being based in the UK's northermost islands of Shetland and Orkney, that has led us to achieve a reputation for providing the highest quality service to our customers.
